The debate of cats vs. dogs seems like a debate as old as time...but there's a new contender in the race. A new survey found that children and teens would rather have rats as pets over cats or dogs.
The survey was conducted by Right Pet, and they found that adults and kids who either currently own, or have owned animals between the ages of 10 and 17, share that pet rats gave them more satisfaction than any other type of pets.
You may be wondering why, and so are we...so here's what Right Pet had to say as to reasons kids love domesticated rats:
- Rats don't cost a lot to keep
- Owning a rat builds self-esteem
- Rats are smart and loving
- Rats are sex (and death) educational [Whatever this means]
- Rats are clean and won't give people the plague
- Rats freak parents out (which kids love)
Those are just some of the reasons why kids love pet rats so much. Have you ever had a pet rat? Do you agree with the above? Tweet us! @theMRLshow
