There’s A Petition Out There To Change The Date Of Halloween
What if October 31st was no longer the official date for Halloween?
What would happen to Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween?
There’s a group called the Halloween & Costume Association and they started a petition on Change.org to move the spooky holiday from October 31st to the last Saturday in October.
Their reasoning is, “it’s time for a safer, longer, stress-free celebration!” As of Friday morning, the petition has gained more than 7,2000 signatures out of its 7,500 signature goal. The petition is directly addressed to President Trump and they even included statistics as to why they believe it’s in everyone’s best interest to move the date.
The group claims that there are “3,8000 Halloween-related injuries each year,” and “82 percent of parents don’t use high visibility aids” on their costumes, such as reflective tape fo glow sticks. Most children also don’t carry flashlights with them while out on Halloween night.
“Why cram it into 2 rushed evening weekday hours when it deserves a full day!?!” the group asked.
We asked our listeners what they think…
