A Union County toddler missing in flood waters from Florence has been found dead.

According to WSOC, the one-year-old child's mother was driving on NC-218 when she allegedly drove across a barricaded section of the roadway towards Wadesboro.

It is not known at this time why the woman drove through a barricaded section of the roadway.

Soon after, the woman found herself in the middle of a flood emergency, as her vehicle traveled along an area of water rushing across the road.

The mother was able to get herself and her toddler, identified as Kaiden Lee-Welch, out of the car, but sadly, the child was swept away by the floods.

The woman was taken to the hospital last night.

Her condition is not known at this time.
