We're over the halfway hump of 2018, so now it's time to reflect what we've done for the past seven months. Parents, this one is for you.

The U.S. Social Security Administration has released the list of popular baby names and the data reveals many themes and patterns with some of the rarer baby names that parents selected for their newborns. Thanks to Nameberry, we have a compiled list of some of the more outrageous names that have been given to our newborns.

Some of the more bizarre examples include babies named after a brand.

  • Tesla (130 girls, 11 boys)
  • Fanta (24 girls)
  • Beretta (21 girls)
  • Maybelline (20 girls)
  • Evlan (10 boys)

While naming a newborn after a brand has been an inclining trend, sports have also influenced some baby names. We're not talking about naming after athletes or sports teams, no. We mean the one and only sport network: ESPN. According to the list by Nameberry, twelve girls and six boys have been named Espn.

It doesn't stop there. More names have been given thanks to materials, spirituality, prestige, nature, and of course attitude.
