You might want to be careful if you have shopped at any of these stores recently because your account could have been hacked.
A lot of people don’t even carry cash with them anymore due to the heavy use of debit and credit cards, but it looks like carrying cash might not be such a bad idea. In the past year, there have been at least fifteen separate security breaches with retailers, thanks to payment systems, either online or in store.
Some of the major businesses breached are Macy’s, Sears, Whole Foods, and even Delta Airlines. Thankfully, we know that Amazon is safe and sound, but this could be a bad sign for some of these retailers that have been struggling with their businesses in the past few years.
According to a new pool, 19% of customers said they would stop shopping at a store after a breach, and 33% said they would take an extended break from shopping at that store.
Retailers that have experienced data breaches include:
- Delta Airlines
- Best Buy
- Sax Fifth Avenue
- Lord & Taylor
- Under Armor
- Panera Bread
- Forever 21
- Whole Foods
