Because a record of 73 hot dogs in 10 minutes really needed beating.

For the 11th year in a row, Joey Chestnut is THE hot dog eating champion. This year is special for Joey though, because he also set a new world record. At the annual Nathans' 4th of July contest, Joey Chestnut wolfed down 74 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. This is a new record from the record he set last year, at 72.

In the video, Chestnut addresses something that the judges did that almost caused him not to win. Apparently, judges missed a whole plate of hot dogs that Chestnut ate and at one point had his final tally at 64 hot dogs. He told the reporter that he didn't let it get to him and just kept going. Good thing he did because once again he is THE champion!
