CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 10: An IHOP restaurant serves customers on August 10, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. DineEquity, the parent company of Applebee’s and IHOP, plans to close up to 160 restaurants in the first quarter of 2018. The announcement helped the stock climb more than 4 percent today. IHOb (not to be confused with its old self, IHOp) has caused quite the controversy with their new identity, and we are here for the drama.

The beloved breakfast franchise has been receiving some serious backlash as they announced yesterday that their new name is "IHOb." When they teased this name change last week, we were prepared for what the "B" would stand for. Even with all of that preparation, we were not expecting what was to come.

B is for Burgers.

That's right, burgers...because "breakfast" seemed too sensible.  Now to be fair, people were losing their minds at the thought of a "b" in place of the "p" before IHOb's newfound declaration of being burger masters, so you can imagine the hysteria when this house of pancakes completely shifted everything we thought they stood for.

With the release of their new name, they also released 7 new "Ultimate Steakburgers." The burgers sound good, don't get me wrong.. here, take a look:

  • Classic- topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and American cheese with new "Steakburger sauce"
  • Classic with Bacon- the classic plus hickory-smoked bacon
  • Big Brunch- topped with bacon, a fried egg, a potato pancake and cheese
  • Cowboy BBQ- topped with bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce
  • Jalapeno Kick- topped with jalapeno mayo, bacon, Pepper-Jack cheese and sauteed jalapeno peppers, serranos chiles and onions
  • Mushroom and Swiss- topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions, Swiss cheese and mayo
  • Mega Monster- two steakburger patties topped with two slices of cheese (American and white cheddar) and pickles.

but is it worth changing the entirety of the franchise?  Most people don't think so and have had no problem hiding it.  Several fast food franchises didn't hesitate trolling the new name change either.

Now, some people have forgotten that we've been through this before, but I believe this take should settle where we stand on IHOb:

Are you someone that's bothered by this name change? If so you're not alone...

International House Of Pancakes: 1958-2018. RIP.
