We were lucky we got to talk to Miss Katie before she makes it in Hollywood!
Today is our 7th Annual Play Anything Day. It’s a day where we ditch the regular Top-40 format and have the opportunity to play whatever we want. You pay, we play. If you want to hear Britney Spears, Panic At The Disco, Taylor Swift, WHATEVER! For a donation of any amount, we will get your song on the radio.
Katie joined us this morning to talk about her time at Levine Children’s Hospital, which is who we are trying to help raise money for. Let’s be real, when she was in the studio, we were more focused on her humor and couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at her quick wit and positive energy.
Katie is an 11-year-old budding actress and dramatic performer from Charlotte. She’s 11 and healthy now but when she was only 3-years-old she had a very rare disorder. In 2010, Katie was diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus. You may read the word Diabetes and assume that she had a common disorder but think again. DI is a very rare disorder. In fact, it’s so rare that only 1 in 30,000 children are affected. As if that wasn’t enough for Katie, during an MRI, doctors also uncovered a pituitary tumor and was then diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis; which is also very rare. 5 in 1 million kids affected.
Safe to say, Katie is special…and she so graciously showed us that today.
