"Unprecedented" was the word used to describe the aftermath of Monday's sewage spill near Oakdale Road in Charlotte. As of Tuesday evening, Charlotte Water estimated the spill amount at 15.4 million gallons.
It's been said that this is the largest spill in the past decade. Reports of sewer odor and dead fish have already begun. The 30-inch pipe broke near the point where Long and McIntyre creeks meet. The spill has officially stopped and clean up begun late Tuesday morning.
