80% nutrition and 20% exercise, right?

Sometimes Netflix is more appealing than getting in your car, heading to the gym and actually working out. Even though eating a salad and going to the gym regularly kick starts a healthy routine in a perfect world, but we are perfectly imperfect...so we have some hacks for you on how to improve your healthy while still enjoying your binge watching session on your couch.

  • Hydrate - Drinking water helps with digestion and leaves you with glowing skin. It also helps flush toxins and most people aren't drinking enough water.
  • Meatless Monday - It's hard to become a hardcore vegan, but skipping meat one day of the week is an easy way to be healthier.
  • Walk and talk - Thanks to FitBit and the Apple Watch, a lot of people have become obsessed with getting in 10,000 steps a day. Instead of taking phone calls and chatting with friends while on the couch, catch up with a friend while taking a stroll. If you haven't seen some friends in a while - suggest going on a walk together since it's finally Spring time!
  • Eat half - Portion sizes here in the United States are out of control. Very rarely do we actually eat the correct portion size, so take it upon yourself to eat half of your meal. This is pretty much a win-win situation because then you have leftovers and another meal for another day!
  • Keep a food journal - When it's all written down, it's easy to see where your bad habits are and where you can make improvements in your diet. It also helps with accountability
  • Learn to love smoothies - You can pack tons of greens in a smoothie, and when you add nuts, berries, almond milk and a banana...you've just made yourself a healthy meal replacement!
  • Small swaps - slowly but surely...baby steps are still steps! Trade your diet soda for a seltzer, sub your regular peanut butter for natural raw almond butter.
