The infamous giant peach-shaped water tower in Gaffney, South Carolina is now surrounded by a 6-foot-tall barbed wire fence.
Gaffney's giant peach has been a famous attraction for lots of Carolinians as well as people just passing by on the highway. The giant peach-shaped water tower has shown up in many social media posts and has accumulated quite the fan base by now.
Security has finally stepped in.
The fence cost Gaffney $14,000 but it is supposed to help stop vandalism. Fans of the peach had been caught carving their initials into the base of the peach and even spray painting over it.
This has upset a lot of people because the fence doesn't look good on Instagram posts.
What do you think about the fence? Should they take it down? Someone said on Facebook, "Take the fence down and charge the shell like an electric fence. The paint will act as an insulator and only those who attempt to scratch through it will be shocked. You could pay for the charger by submitting the footage from the surveillance cameras to 'America's Funniest Videos.'."
