The York County Sheriff's office informed the community that Detective Mike Doty has passed away due to his injuries sustained during the shooting. His death will be felt across the entire York County community.
Yesterday, we reported that four officers with the York County Sheriff's office and York County Police Department were shot while responding to a domestic violence call.
When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect, Christian Thomas McCall, took off on foot.
A search pursued, and in the process, four officers were shot by McCall.
The first shooting happened around 1 a.m.
According to WSOC, Sergeant Randy Clinton was shot while chasing the suspect with a K9.
Clinton was rushed to the hospital as other officers were called into the scene.
A couple hours later, the suspect ambushed three other officers.
McCall was also shot, and was taken into custody.
Since then, the officers names have been released.
According to a Twitter post on the York County Sheriff's account, there conditions are as follows:
- Detective Mike Doty is in critical condition
- Sergeant Randy Clinton is in stable condition
- Sergeant Buddy Brown is also in stable condition
- Sergeant Kyle Cummings is recovering
McCall, 47, will likely be charged with weapon charges and attempted murder.
