Pedestrians have the right away, but what about alligators? Since Sunday night, two alligators have been hit by cars in the Charlotte area. Talk about scary!

The larger one, at six feet long, was killed on Highway 74 in Union County Monday night. Earlier that morning, the first alligator, a 5-footer, died in a state shelter in York County. It was spotted Sunday night near Clover, South Carolina, where it was hit by a car.

While police do not know where the gator came from, they believe it was probably being kept by someone who let it go once it got too big. By the way, that is totally illegal! But, it’s not the first time York County has seen gators. In fact, sightings go back to 1999.
