For the last couple of years, Kesha has been in legal limbo. She’s been to and from court multiple times trying to get out of her contract with producer Dr. Luke. With Dr. Luke gone from Sony, Kesha is now back!

In 2014 Kesha accused her producer, Dr. Luke, of sexual and emotional abuse. He later counter-sued and all of these legal battles kept Kesha locked into her contract. This meant she was not able to make music anywhere other than the one place she definitely did not want to be. Just a few months ago Sony decided to end their relationship with Dr. Luke.

This means Kesha is able to make music again! Kesha will be releasing her first album in five years on August 11th and her first single from the album is titled Praying.

“This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you,” Kesha writes for Lenny Letter , “It’s a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It’s also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”
